National Coordination, Strategies and Planning

National Coordination, strategies and planning: The National Aquaculture Council and all the State and Territory Governments are keen to ensure that aquaculture enterprises are environmentally sustainable, and technically and commercially viable. The ISA research effort and planning for the industry is coordinated by New South Wales Fisheries with funding from Fisheries Research & Development Corporation.

Investment in ISA

At this point in time ISA offers few fully commercial investment opportunities. Systems and species are being assessed, trialed and in some cases piloted. Small quantities of product have made it to the market particularly trout and ornamental fish from Western Australia.

An Investment Risk Analysis Framework has been prepared to highlight the issues and risks associated with ISA, particularly those to consider when making investment decisions. The framework provides a tool that allows potential investors to consider the risks involved in investing in Inland Saline Aquaculture.
